Progress Report June 2026
It's been a pretty good month.
Reformation, book 3, is now at 51k words, which is an increase of about 10k words since the end of May.
I edited the first short story in Recollections and added two more, so now it's at 8440 words. An increase of about 6000.
Revelation, the prequel, is at 31k words, which is an increase of about 4000. Generally this book is going really slowly. I know where I want it to go, but the way to get there is just dredging on. And to be honest I'm not sure I even like the 4000 words I managed to churn out in June. But that's an editorial problem. Get the story out on "paper" is the first order of business. Once that's done we can start looking at making it pretty, making it good.
The main reason why Revelation is taking so long is probably because Reformation is demanding my attention more, but what happens in Revelation is strongly tied with events in Reformation so I need Revelation to be completed to be sure that events in Reformation aren't all out of whack. Unfortunately my brain has also been coming up with events that would be suitable for a fourth book, but I can't go there yet. I can't start on book 4 when I'm only about halfway in book 3. Also, I need to figure out who to make the protag of book 4. I have a few characters I'm considering, each with their own challenges. I would like to complete Recollections too before I start on book 4. Just to make sure I'm caught up with the publication order I have in mind: Rebellion -> Resurgence -> Revelation -> Reformation -> Recollections.
I sent out a new batch of queries in the middle of June. I haven't heard a peep back yet, which could either be a good sign, or they're all on holiday, or this will be another batch where I'm just completely ghosted. Time will tell.
In other news I deleted my Instagram account. The growth was just too slow, or rather, completely nonexistent. I started both Instagram and TikTok at the end of April, and crossposted everything. Yet at the end of June I had 400 followers on TikTok, while Instagram refused to breach 25 with barely any views at all on my posts. Same content, same hashtags, completely different reactions.
All in all I've written about 20k words in June across all three concurrent projects. It's been a good month 👍
